CERTIFIED WELL SAMPLER

This class deals primarily with water quality, and provides detailed information relative to wells and well operations.

You will learn about a number of issues facing inspectors and theirs client with regard to wells and well water. This includes how wells are constructed, situations which can affect them, and how they function. Additionally there will be information about standard criteria for the collection and handling of water samples, relating to contaminants, health effects, impurities, etc.

Topics covered in this class include:

What is Drinkable Water?, What is a Vector?, Issues of Cross- Contamination, How Wells Work, Aquifer,Water table, Well Depth,Shallow Wells, Deep Wells, Mechanics, Pressure and Flow, Pumping, Well Types, Well Components, Flow Testing, Identifying Conditions that can Affect Wells and Well Water Quality, Water Quality Analysis, Bacteriological Contamination, Common Chemical Characteristics, Volatile Synthetic Organics, Biological Characteristics, ANSI/NSF Standards, Water Sampling Methodologies, Drinking Water Standards and Abandoned Wells.

There will be additional discussion of defects and defect recognition on well water systems and related plumbing systems. At the conclusion of this class, passage of a certifying exam allows participants to use the title “Certified Well Sampler” with confidence.

Certificate for 8 NACHI and Wisconsin Continuing Education Units will be provided.

The Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors (WAHI) Fall Seminar.
Friday includes: Optional sessions on Ventilation, Plumbing, Electrical, Reporting Software and a cocktail party. Saturday includes: Gas Furnaces, Boiler Combustion Theory and use of CO Detectors, and a 2-part session on Structural Foundation Inspections and Repair Methods before and after Lunch.
